Serving

We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Jesus is calling us to know and trust him as our Saviour and Servant-King before we follow him as a servant to others. We do not serve in order to be a “good” Christian, because the only person good enough to impress God is Jesus Christ. Rather, serving others is a response of worship, gratitude and love to God because of the grace we have received in Christ.

While we may know the concept of grace cognitively, the transformation of our hearts takes a much longer time. Our flesh naturally reverts to a work-based mode, using our ‘good’ work and service as a way of commending and justifying ourselves before God and before others. This is why grace-forgetting, joyless serving can be harmful to our souls. This is why we need the Christian community around us to point us again and again to the gospel of grace. This is why as part of our commitment to love and serve you, we first invite you to just be a part of our church family.

Are you actively and regularly participating in a Missional Community? Are you building meaningful relationships with others within the church? If not, then we are committed to helping you achieve these things first.
